Why do you change your behavior when you interact with white people? When you signed up to work in customer service, you did know you were supposed to treat all individuals the same, right? You know what I'm talking about! Some of you (not all) guys are putting forth your best customer service when white folks walk into the room or when the next person in your line is a white person. If you work in public service, black people are entitled to your best customer service just like any other groups of people. Why do you lower your expectations when it is a black person that is receiving your customer service? For example, I was in a few conversations regarding this issue. It is very perturbing. Again, not all folks rocking their melanin act like this, but to those who do, this is especially for you! Please stop doing it! At the end of the day the dominant society still see you as a black person. Some still say you're a n*gger. My friend told me about a situation at her local post office.
There was a black woman acting very unpleasant and unprofessional because her coworker went to lunch before her. I believe the angry woman was supposed to go on her lunch first, and not after her coworker. Is that the right way to handle it? My friend stated how the woman was using profanity and snapping off! The post office woman was communicating to another employee how upset she was about the incident. Who does that? Also, why would she even think it was ok to express herself like that in front of customers! The only people inside of the post office were black folks. We both agreed that if white folks had been in that post office, that black woman would not have snapped, crackled and popped off like that. The woman didn't know that my friend had a family member who was the postmaster at another local post office. The woman who totally did not represent the United States Postal Office well, probably thought nothing would happen, but my friend did report it. Sadly, I can attest to the fact of witnessing how the post office workers at that same particular post office are quick to service customers when the line is long and white people walk in. All of a sudden 2 or 3 more front office workers will come to the front to help in customer service. All I am saying is, you should have that same customer service energy when it is all melanated black people in line, or anyone. This syndrome is known to cross all career fields and services. Those black folks that practice doing this may or may not be aware of their behavior. Some are. I think it has a lot to do with some residue of slavery. I really do. In the black community, a lot of black folks have been brainwashed into thinking they are less than white folks. Thankfully, not all of us. It's a battle of the mind.
I pray that if you have some physiological issues where you think that "white is always right" and for some reason you are caught up in that syndrome, please get some counseling. It's simply not true. There are good and bad people in all groups of people. I am not saying that you should dislike or mistreat Europeans. I am just saying please give your own people the same level of respect.
