I was out and about looking...searching...seeking for a new battery for my cell phone one day. I called around to get some prices. I was not satisfied with my options. I called my girlfriend's house phone to ask her husband. He is like Mr. Brilliant Tech Man. He answered the phone. I asked him where I might find a reputable store. He told me to try a few places. I went to Radio Shack near a city close to where I lived. There was a man looking at me as I entered the store at Radio Shack. I asked the lady in the store if they had cell phone batteries. She asked me what type of phone I had. I told her but as she was explaining to me what they had, I noticed the same man standing outside the store started peeking through the window. Those that know me know I am "Ms. Super Alert Chick" so I whispered to her asking if the man looking in the window worked for Radio Shack. She articulated he did not work at the store. She stated the man was her husband. She said there had been a lot of robberies at some Radio Shacks and different things happening in the area. She expressed the store had her working by herself. She didn't have to say anything else. My heart started to melt. I went into super "BLACK-LOVE-ROCKS" mode and just fell in love with this man. She told me they did not have my phone battery but she did point me in the right direction.
As I exited Radio Shack I was looking at the man who was identified as her husband outside guarding his "good-thang" and I was too done! It was in a delightful way because we always hear about black men being unattached to positive depiction in the media time after time (like Cindy Lauper)! So this was a moment I felt worthy to overshare amidst all the negativity. It made me feel very good to see that. A black man protecting his black woman! Like yes! I was on a natural high all day from witnessing a wonderful love story. It was beyond great. LIKE OMG! We need to see, touch, taste and feel movie scenes like that!
Men how many of you would do the same for your wife or significant other if she expressed to you how unsafe she felt at her job working by herself? Ladies what do you think about this kind of protection?
