The picture above is a notice I received in the mail from the Democratic Party. If you reside in Illinois or any American state, I'm sure you've received something similar from both parties if you've voted in their favor in past elections. The thing I dislike about both parties is how they monopolize on the choices of others. Yes we live in a two-party system but I believe all parties have a right to be included. The times are changing. The American people are not pleased with both of the parties who have remained dominant. We need more competition. The system we have in place wants voters to select all the candidates from the same box during primary voting. You either vote straight democratic or republican. Oh, and don't think you can go in and say you want to vote for the Libertarian or Green Party. It's not going to happen. What if I like some candidates who are from the Republican Party and some who are represented by the Democratic Party? Why should I have to select a democrat who has done absolutely nothing for me and my community? I have a right to do my research on the candidates to see which one closely fits my needs as a registered voter. You should do the same. Please stop allowing a political party or anyone to tell you who you should vote for. You own your voice. It's your power. Don't be shy about making sure politicians work for your vote. Also, there should be term limits for all the men and women who make up congress.
I am in no way saying not to vote or who to vote for. That is your choice. What I do know is, I live in a democratic state. The message the Democratic Party articulates is, they are for quality healthcare and for quality education that is accessible to all. They say they are for the working class and not the privileged. I haven't seen that evidence in their statement applied to the black community. I want the democrats to know if they don't get their acts together, they are going to lose a lot of seats. This is the buzz on the streets. Folks are not a fan of holding on to broken promises. Action has to be the main objective. What are you doing? What have you done? Are the democrats not listening to the people who have always given them the win they needed? No, they are not! Black people have been voting blue their entire lives because their families were always blue. Show me the benefits of their loyalty! The Republican Party was always a symbol for the white rich folks in the homes of lots of black folks. We didn't dare look their way. Although criminal injustice has remained high in black communities, the disparities in education and in healthcare are also constant in most democratic states. In Illinois as well. Why? What have the democrats been doing that warrants my vote? In Illinois they allow predatory third-party companies to take advantage of black and brown families who have loved ones incarcerated. The price some family members pay for phone calls or to put money on a plastic card for their loved ones who are locked up is ridiculous. Legislation like that comes from the politicians in your state. Have the democrats looked over some of their policies lately? Are they not paying attention to what is going on in black and brown communities? For the record, politicians enjoy speaking to the middle class. They often forget those folks who are not middle class but voted for them. Both parties tend to ignore the men and women who work two jobs with kids. What about them? I understand they want President Trump to be fired. Okay, if that happens where is your agenda for black people? If Trump stays in office what is your plan? Why hasn't democracy been restored for the individuals who still have to fight for the exact battles Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, and Dr. King were fighting for? Most politicians seem to get relaxed in their wealthy positions until another person wants their seat. I am telling all the men and women who make up congress to please stop taking those you represent for granted. When you continue to do that you will lose. People are tired! You are mailing me a notice from you to vote democratic. Wake up! Take heed!
