I witnessed a family member getting hit by a car as a young girl. The twins (grace and mercy) helped her survive the crash. It was not her time to go! Fear became my reluctant best friend many years to follow. I was afraid to learn how to drive as I entered high school in light of having the bad memories in my mind about the car accident. I efficaciously avoided taking driver’s education. I was the only female in my fantabulous group of teenage friends who did not have my driver’s license. Thank goodness my friends always rocked harder than the wind when it came to picking me up and taking me places with them. They never pressured me about getting my driver’s license. The decision was always on me to do something about my situation, not them. My teenage years passed away and my 20’s came. I made up my mind to fight (part-time) against my fear and get my license; I wanted it with half of my might. I studied for the written test and passed it. I took the driving test and flunked it twice; simultaneously being nervous and anxious. God tells us not to be anxious of things but prayerful in all things (Philippians 4:6). I was so disheartened and shared it with my friends. I stopped trying for a while. One day my girlfriend Tina talked to me about getting my driver’s license. She prayed with me and told me to slow down. She told me I could not do 45 mph on a 25 mph speed limit lane with a driver instructor. She was right! She told me to picture myself getting my license in my mind. I did it! I begin to tell myself I was going to get my license non-stop. I start visualizing it in my mind. The next time I went to take my test Tina allowed me to practice in her car and take the test in her car. I conquered fear in full-time victory that day. I am blessed with good people (friends) in my life because that is what I have always attracted, envisioned and expected!
If you want to start something big or small like an organization or invention you can do it! Pray, meditate and see yourself doing it. Then, start acting on it! You can do it! You are no different than all the other people in the world who have already done it! If you want to go back to school, see yourself walking through those college doors with all those heavy books in your hand. Tell yourself you are going back to school until you believe it. If you know you could do better as a parent start seeing yourself doing better; helping your kids with their homework. Slow down on all the yelling! You know they need your help. If you want to be a better leader see yourself doing it! If you know you should be a more loving spouse see yourself doing it, then do it! Your mind will help you attract all the things fear wishes to hold you back at! Don’t allow that! You can do it! God designed your mind powerfully to do extraordinary things on purpose.
